Belton
Park Golf Club:
I joined the PGA in 1965 and I believe I have made a significant
contribution to the development of golf tuition over the
last 40 years.
I
enjoy teaching tremendously and find it the most satisfying
part of the whole game.
This
enthusiasm was ignited at Belton Park Golf Club in 1966
when I was an assistant to my father and he asked me to
give a lesson to one of the members (Mr Toogood if my memory
serves me well).
I
had played with Mr Toogood several times and believed I
knew his problems so prior to the lesson I formulated exactly
what to say to him and within minutes of the lesson commencing
he improved.
This
is great I thought and I still do so 40 years on.
At
Belton Park Golf Club I won the Lincolnshire PGA title and
the Lincolnshire Alliance Championship.
Two
years were spent in Johannesburg, South Africa coaching
at a driving range 8am until 10pm -7 days a week.
